Packaging presses have typically five or six printing units, but sometimes up to 11. This allows the printing of special colours used for brand identification (e.g. a particular red or purple) or in the package design (e.g. light green for frozen peas) with their own inks.
Decorative presses typically have three printing units. The typical ‘wood grain’ product is printed with a dark brown, a light brown and a navy blue ink.
